The knit uppers are flexible and breathable with a sock-like fit that doesn’t dig into your feet. The front and back pull tabs allow for easy-on and easy-off access that keep you on the go.

Of course, no KURU shoe is complete without the patented KURUCLOUD and KURUSOLE technology. This tech supports your arches and heels while providing cushioning and responsive shock absorption for feet and joints that remain painless through a 12-hour shift.

I’ve tried multiple kinds of shoes (including Cloves), and sincerely, these are the most comfortable. Feels like my feet are getting a warm hug from [my] grandma all shift, there’s something firm that supports my arch and it’s just wonderful.

The Vionic Fortune sneaker offers an innovative cushioned outsole that’s responsive and lightweight due to its unique cutouts. These cutouts also allow for flexibility in every stride.

As a performance walking shoe, the Vionic Fortune sneakers feature arch support, cushion and stability to keep your feet comfortable whether walking or standing. Although this shoe is lightweight, the outsole and uppers remain durable for everyday wear.

Please don’t ever change these, and please make more colors!!! I have super difficult feet, and these are pretty much the only sneakers I can wear!!! Love the toe box room and that the back of the shoe is not too high.

FAQ About Nursing Shoes
FAQs
  • What Should I Look for in a Nursing Shoe?

When it comes to nursing shoes, comfort is key. These are the five factors that lead to a comfortable shoe:

    • Support:  Nursing shoes should have good arch support to help reduce foot fatigue and prevent injuries. Look for shoes with a contoured footbed or an adjustable insole that can provide customized support.
    • Shock-absorbing cushion: If your shoes don’t have enough shock absorption, you may be putting excessive stress on your feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back. Look for shoes that feature a cushioned sole that helps evenly distribute your body weight.
    • Slip resistance: When quickly walking from one patient to the next, you need shoes that can grip the floor and limit the potential of slipping. Choose nursing shoes with a rubber or synthetic sole for good traction on wet and oily surfaces.
    • Easy to clean: Hospital and doctor’s office floors can be home to all sorts of fluids, so choose easy-to-clean and sanitize nursing shoes.
    • Fit: Nursing shoes should fit properly to prevent blisters, calluses and other foot problems. Ensure you measure your feet regularly and choose shoes with enough room in the toe box and a snug fit in the heel.
  • How Often Should Nurses Replace Shoes?

Nurses spend an immense amount of time on their feet, so it’s safe to say that nurses can wear out shoes fairly quickly. Most shoes are measured in miles, meaning every shoe makes it to a certain amount of miles before replacement is necessary. Many podiatrists agree you should replace your shoes around 350-500 miles.

While it’s difficult to accurately determine how long it takes a nurse to reach that many miles, a full-time nurse that walks for a significant amount of their shift could reach that mileage in about six months.

Be aware of any pain that starts bothering you, like foot, joint or back pain that you weren’t previously experiencing with your nursing shoes. New pain could signal wear and tear on your shoes and indicate it’s time to replace them.

  • What Are the Best Nursing Shoes for Back Pain?

If you’re experiencing back pain after a nursing shift, your shoes may be at fault. For shoes that solve back pain issues, look for a wide base that offers stability and improved alignment.

Arch support and shock absorption also significantly affect how your back and joints feel after a shift. Ensure your nursing shoes have expectational support and cushion throughout the insole and midsole to maximize your comfort.

  • What Are the Best Nursing Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis?

Nurses with plantar fasciitis may struggle to find the right shoe that allows them to be on their feet for a long shift. Here are some things to look for when shopping for nursing shoes:

    • Arch support: Look for shoes with good arch support to help distribute your body weight evenly across your foot.
    • Cushioning: Shoes with additional cushioning can help absorb shock and reduce pressure on your feet.
    • Heel support: Shoes with good heel support can stabilize your foot and prevent excessive rolling inward or outward.
    • Wide toe box: Shoes with a wide toe box can help reduce pressure on your toes and the ball of your foot.

    Nursing shoes for plantar fasciitis:

    • KURU ATOM Sneakers
    • KURU KINETIC Sneakers
    • Ryka Devotion Plus 2 Walking Shoe
    • New Balance 608V5 Sneakers

  • What Are the Best Nursing Shoes for Wide Feet?

Wearing shoes that are too narrow could lead to blisters, corns, calluses, bunions and daily discomfort. If you have wide feet or notice any previously mentioned problems, consider wide shoes with a wider toe box and width around the midfoot.

    Nursing shoes for wide feet:

New Balance 608V5 Sneakers (wide and extra wide fit options)
