Best Heel Support Shoes

Three pain relieving technologies provide unparalleled support and comfort.

The heel of your foot will always carry the weight of your body and will carry even more weight whenever you stand still, walk, and run. Fortunately, our heels are the most resilient part of our foot and can absorb impact and shock through every movement. However, this doesn’t mean that your heels won’t need additional support during various activities.

The natural cushioning of the foot can break down during various activities when the heel is exposed to trauma, and as we get older. This means that the heel bone can become even more sensitive to the normal pressure of walking and standing.

Luckily, KURU Footwear offers shoes with heel support equipped with deep and supportive heel cups that give your feet the complete support they need.

What are Heel Support Shoes?

A common foot problem is heel pain which is often caused by various conditions such as heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, and achilles tendonitis. The most common place where heel pain occurs is either at the bottom of the heel or right behind it, where the Achilles tendon is connected to the heel bone. Heel pain can become so severe that some people find it unbearable to stand up from their bed first thing in the morning.

Thankfully, you can look for heel support shoes that can help to prevent the pain, or at least give you relief from it. If you’re moderately active and always on your feet, be sure to wear supportive and comfortable shoes to reduce the chance of getting heel pain. Unfortunately, heel pain doesn’t just affect your health, but it also contributes to pain in the knees, hip, and back.

Dress in Style with Heel Support Shoes

Explore how to style and wear the latest styles of heel support shoes from KURU.

Heel support tennis shoes with jeans and denim: This look is perfect for people looking to add some class to their orthotics shoes. To pull this off, be sure to pick pants that are narrow and cropped slightly to show just a bit of ankle. Finish the look by wearing long sleeves topped by a denim jacket to stay fashionably comfortable for winter.

Boots with heel support and a minimalist outfit: This style is comfortable with a feminine touch. Be sure to wear a black pair of sleek and slim pants that are cut off at the ankle. You can pair them with a black cardigan on top of a white shirt or blouse to tie the look together. If you want to add a pop of color to add to the monochrome theme, then you can throw on an orange or pink purse.

Sandals with heel support paired with a dress: A light and flowy dress will allow you to step out in style during the spring season. With this option, you have the freedom to choose whatever color you like, including low-contrast neutrals like beige, tan, cream, and others to elongate your legs. You can also choose a more feminine option such as floral prints. Pair your dress with a pair of sandals.

Shoe Fit Tips

Simplify the process of finding a pair of heel support shoes that fit well with these helpful tips from our KURU GURUs.

Unfortunately, many people wrongly believe that everyone’s feet are the same. People have different foot shapes and your shoe needs will depend on your unique foot shape, as well as your heels’ needs. Some people may have flat feet or high arches, so choosing the right shoe to fit your feet is important.

Buying shoes without knowing if they will fit properly may lead to further pain or even foot injuries. When searching for the perfect-fitting shoes, keep in mind the following:

  • Shoes that have a stiff back—you shouldn’t be able to move it around the heel
  • Shoes that have an adjustable strap or shoelaces
  • Shoes that bend where your toes bend
  • Shoes that provide support for your arches
  • Shoes that are long and wide enough in the toe box
  • Shoes that feel comfortable the moment you try them on
  • Shoes made from lightweight and flexible materials

FAQs

  • What are the best shoes for heel support?

Shoes that support heels such as KURU Footwear’s wide range offer KURUSOLE orthotic technology that allows each shoe to mold to your foot shape. Just as you would have a suit tailored to your needs, KURU shoes can provide you with the proper support in the right places.

Every shoe is designed to adapt to your feet, providing a proven and versatile option to protect your feet and ensure you enjoy life to its fullest.

  • Can I use custom orthotics with KURU shoes?

Due to the anatomical shape of the KURUSOLE, custom orthotics with a rounded heel fit best inside our shoes. If the underside of the custom orthotic (the part that sits on the footbed) is squared off, then it may not fit into our deep heel cup—which is rounded like your foot.

That said, many of our customers tell us the KURUSOLE technology offers better support and stability than they expected, and that they don’t need to wear their custom orthotics with KURU shoes.

  • How is the arch support of KURU shoes?

KURU shoes deliver excellent arch support without the need for thick inserts or expensive, custom orthotics.

Superior arch support starts with our patented KURUSOLE technology, which delivers natural cushioning and dynamically hugs your heel with every step. Every foot is unique, and our ULTIMATE INSOLES adapt to fit your needs by using your own body heat to custom-mold to the shape of your feet over time.

The corrective nature of our superior arch support is designed to neutralize your weight distribution and place your foot in the best anatomical position. This support can take some getting used to. We suggest slowly breaking in your new shoes over the course of 2–3 weeks.

  • I just received a pair of your shoes and my feet are sore/hurt after wearing them. Why is that?

Some customers experience tenderness when they first start wearing a new pair of KURUs. That’s ok! Your body may need time to adjust to the new levels of anatomical support you experience with our patented KURUSOLE technology. Our shoes are also designed to mold to your unique foot shape, which takes a bit of a break-in period.

To help mitigate this, we suggest you follow our break-in procedure, including wearing your KURUs for a couple hours per day around the house in the first couple of weeks as they break in and form to your foot.

Why You Don’t Need Orthotics with KURU

Features of Heel Support Shoes and Finding the Best Fit

Here’s what to look for when searching for the best heel support shoes for you.

Cushioning

When you’re exercising or running, your body has to brace for impact at every step. Because your feet receive the full force of the impact, they absorb and disperse it. Cushioned shoes can help the body properly handle this impact. Unfortunately, a lot of shoes lack adequate cushioning, or people wear shoes that are already worn down too much.

You can give your feet and heels the support they need through KURU Footwear, where you’ll find a wide range of shoes with good heel support. Using our patent-pending KURUSOLE technology, you can have the benefit of a custom orthotic midsole built directly into the shoe. As a result, this design can better cushion and support the heel by molding it to your foot’s shape.

Arch Support

The best heel support sneakers will offer good arch support and will be particularly helpful if the cause of your heel pain is flat feet. No matter what shoe you need, whether it’s for walking, running, or exercising, your shoes should always have a midsole that offers arch support. This will give your feet the structure they need to reduce stress on the tendons and ligaments around them.

A Wide Toe Box

Unfortunately, many shoes, including dress shoes and high heels, have a narrow toe box. As a result, this restricts your toe movements which will lead to pain that can run down from the front of your foot to your heels. Be sure to look for shoes that will provide your feet with enough room to allow natural movement.

This is especially true for people who have wide feet, where many heel support shoes can provide you with more room.

Three Layers of Support

At KURU, we pride ourselves on our unique approach to shoe design. We believe that shoes should be shaped to fit the natural contours of your feet, which is why we create every pair in three distinct support layers, not just an insole.

Our revolutionary ergonomic design starts with a curved footbed and adds unparalleled triple-layer support that includes shock-absorbing KURUCLOUD, heel-cupping KURUSOLE, and arch-supporting ULTIMATE INSOLES. The result? Shoes that are so comfortable you’ll stop thinking about your feet.

    KURUSOLE

Our patented KURUSOLE plate can reduce foot pain, redirect stress, and encourage a healthy gait. It also features a unique design that cups the heel and allows for dynamic flexion with each step, where it provides superior support that helps protect and preserve the heel’s fat pad. As a result, it guides your body to a more natural alignment, which guarantees personalized comfort that can’t be replicated.

SO COMFORTABLE. I have only had these shoes about a week, but I can tell you I love them! They are so light weight, yet, provide fabulous support to my heels and arches. I suffer with plantar fasciitis and I don’t have to wear orthotics with this shoe! Very comfortable, and the black atom shoe is very fashionable.

Great Work Shoe! This was my first Kuru Shoe and I love it! It fits really well and cradles my heel just like it advertises. I have severe heel issues and found this shoe to be the most comfortable shoe I have worn EVER! Wish there was a button up above that listed “Heel support”-it would rate a 5 in my book as well. It is my first, but definitely will NOT be my last pair of Kuru shoes!!

Outstanding Shoes. Bought 1 week ago and I am very excited about the claim that it virtually has taken my foot pain away. I walk upright,my heels are supported, my high arches are supported wow. The foot bed did take 3-4 days to mound to my feet and the it was the best support I have ever had.

Cushion and support for arch and heels. I have bought numerous pairs of Chicane shoes over the past few years and have never been disapointed. I did just return a pair because they did not seem like a wide shoe. inside label said wide, but my feet said medium as did the box. I have developed an ingrown toenail over the years and may need to change to different type. I ordered a pair of your Atom size 9 wide ,but have not received them at this time.

So Comfy! I was very apprehensive about a comfortable between the toe shoe – this sandal did not disappoint! Not only was the between the toe not an issue, but the heel support was so good. Now walking in cute sandals is no longer a problem!
