If you’re planning on wearing running shoes for Zumba, pick ones that do not have rubber bottoms—especially ones that fully cover the sole. Since rubber is one of the best non-slip soles, you’ll find it difficult to make turns and pivots while doing Zumba if you wear them.

What are the best shoes for Zumba fitness?

The best shoes for Zumba class are those that check the boxes for the following features: 1.) Flexible: Both the uppers and shoe soles should be bendy. 2.) Lightweight: You’re going to move around a lot, so make sure your shoes won’t bring you down. 3.) Exceptional cushioning: You need good shock absorption to minimize impact from jumping moves, so look for good cushioning in your outer soles, midsoles, and insoles. 4.) Ankle and arch support: Make sure the shoes have firm insoles for arch support and are not too low to leave your ankle unprotected or unsupported. 5.) Breathable: You’ll work up quite a sweat doing Zumba, and this can include your feet. Make sure your shoes are breathable to minimize foot sweat. 6.) Snug fit: Your shoes should be comfortably snug—a wide toe box to avoid cramped toes and fit enough that it doesn’t come off while dancing. 7.) Less grippy soles: You want to be able to pivot and turn at a dime. Look for soles that aren’t made entirely of rubber or have a pivot point under the balls of your feet.

That said, many of our customers tell us the KURUSOLE technology offers better support and stability than they expected, and that they don't need to wear their custom orthotics with KURU shoes.

I just received a pair of your shoes and my feet are sore/hurt after wearing them. Why is that?

Some customers experience tenderness when they first start wearing a new pair of KURUs. That’s ok! Your body may need time to adjust to the new levels of anatomical support you experience with our patented KURUSOLE technology. Our shoes are also designed to mold to your unique foot shape, which takes a bit of a break-in period. To help mitigate this, we suggest you follow our break-in procedure, including wearing your KURUs for a couple hours per day around the house in the first couple of weeks as they break in and form to your foot.
