What do you think is the most popular shoe style in your area?
In 11 states they can’t seem to get enough of platform shoes, while cowboy boots and slippers both took the crown in six states each. And in New Hampshire they are super into ice skates.
KURU Footwear analyzed search trends to find the most popular shoe in each state. Some findings are far from shocking (so, did you know they like flip-flops in Florida and snow boots in Alaska?) but other results may surprise you—like the one state where soccer cleats reign supreme!
The map below shows you which shoes people searched for the most in each state, or you can filter the table to find results for a specific place.
FOOTWEAR FAST FACTS
Do you have a certain pair of shoes that you just can't live without? Or maybe you have a few pairs that you rotate through, depending on the occasion. Either way, there's no doubt that shoes are an important part of our wardrobes. We wanted to know more, so we surveyed 400 people about their shoe buying habits—from how much they spend on footwear, to how long they wear a pair before giving up on them.
Assigned Value of Entire Shoe Collection
How much is your shoe collection worth? According to findings from our survey, 31 percent of people say that their entire shoe collection is worth less than $100. In contrast, 20 percent of people say that their shoes are worth $5,000 or more.
Frequency and Purpose for Shopping For New Shoes
How often do you shop for shoes? Once a year? Twice a year? More than six times a year? If you're like 22 percent of people, then you shop for shoes more than six times a year. The average person shops for shoes one-three times a year. Do you only think about buying new shoes when your current pair wears out? If so, you are not alone. We found 25 percent of people only think about buying shoes when their current pair wears out. Another 21 percent said they usually buy new shoes when planning for an outing, event, or vacation, while the remaining 55 percent said they think about buying shoes all the time, while they're in their closet, while dressing or laying out clothes to wear, or when shopping for non-shoe items.
Style of Shoes Worn Most Often
There are many different types of shoes to choose from and it can be tough to decide what to wear each day. According to survey results, 41 percent of people said that they choose sneakers or casual shoes most often. This may not come as a surprise, as sneakers are versatile and can be worn with a variety of outfits.
Style vs. Comfort
Most people want to be comfortable in their shoes with 46 percent of people saying comfort is the most important factor when it comes to choosing what to wear. Some people prioritize style over comfort, with 25 percent saying that style is the most important consideration when choosing shoes. Which side are you on?
Most Popular Time of Year for Shopping for Shoes
