We named the Chicane for its asymmetrical lacing shape. Just like an S-curve on a winding mountain road, the Chicane's lacing follows the topline of your foot, allowing for more adjustability for a greater variation of foot shapes. This asymmetrical lacing provides a better, more secure fitting shoe. The brightly colored orange version of the womens Chicane draws inspiration from multi-function trail shoes. The Gear Junkie says the Chicane is "one seamless entity on my foot: The insole cups the heel and supports your arch while the lacing system acts like a ribcage over the foot. . .creating a cocoon of support for the entire foot". Featuring water-resistant premium leather uppers combined with a hiking shoe inspired rubber rand for durability and longevity.

They fit my feet like a glove out of the box, and they didn’t require a break in period to feel good. As far as looks are concerned, they are styled like a ultra modern hiker. They almost appear like a sneaker, but thanks to the dark color of the uppers they could be at home in the office with a pair of dockers. One of the only pairs of shoes I look forward to putting on in the morning and almost don’t want to take off at night.

I’ve never had so many people looking at and commenting on my feet. As the shoes wore in, they became one of the most comfortable things I’ve had on my feet in quite a while. I’ve found them to be good in the mud, the snow and jumping puddles around town.

I used these shoes from everything for work at the hospital, light hiking, to crack climbing in a pinch. I was a bit skeptical about how the durability of the soft shell uppers would hold up, but they did surprisingly well, even when I stuck my foot in a granite crack. The looks of the shoe also enable them to be appropriate for almost any time or place. They are very lightweight, feeling more like a house slipper than a shoe durable enough to take into the mountains. The support offered by the foot bed really is as good as it is touted to be. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

I experienced what was termed a severe crushing injury to my right ankle. The crushing part came when a draft horse tried to kick the horse on the left side of me and then backed up to kick again and got me, both times. 4 surgeries later, who knows how many therapy trials, I have a spinal implant to moderate the pain and needless to say shoe shopping is very difficult. I've been wearing Earth shoes and some of their styles are good, but it can be hard on the Achilles that wasn't cut on. From the first time I put on a pair of the Kuru Chicanes I was in heaven. I didn't want to take them off! I love them! They are so light and seem to wrap up your foot like nothing I've ever worn before, they are amazing. I figure if they can work for me and my crazy issues, they would be awesome for anyone!!

I wore these shoes recently for a long day of travel to Chicago. Once in Chicago I continued to be on the go walking around downtown for several hours. I was very pleased with how well my feet felt after my long day. I had no pain in my feet or legs and could have gone several more hours! They are very true to size I wear a 10 and they were a perfect fit. Very well made, I expect they will last me a long time and give me lots of foot love in the years to come!

My feet have been hurting for 2 years, I have to wear steel toe shoes and this has caused me a lot of pain. I love my Kuru shoes. I got them about 3 to 4 weeks. I can walk again and not feel the pain, what a difference. I feel wonderfull. or better yet my feet feel wonderfull. Thank you

I have wide, super-flat feet and bought the Chicanes for traveling. I loved that they are lightweight and fit very well-- perfect for my feet. After a full day of walking, my feet weren't as achy as I would have guessed. The only thing I would recommend is that you do break them in a little if you'll be doing a lot of walking.

I've tried many sneakers and shoes for my plantar fasciitis and NONE compare to Kuru. If you value comfort and want to be able to walk pain free purchase these shoes. They run true to size and are comfortable right out of the box! Your feet are hugged with plenty of room for your toes to extend the way they are meant to. Great shoe!!! I love these shoes!!! I discovered KURU shoes while researching what to do about my very painful plantar fasciitis . I was intrigued by the web site info so I ordered my first pair from a recliner (couldn’t stand or walk without crutches) and paid extra for express shipping. The day they arrived I put them on my feet and stood for time in a week. It felt like a miracle! I just placed an order for my third pair of KURU’s. I have recommended them to everyone I know. I have severe plantar faciatis and bought these shoes in hopes they would help for my month long trip to India. I cannot believe how incredible these shoes feel, function and look. Without these shoes I could barely walk for a hour, with these shoes I went 12 hours every day with barely a twinge. I just got back and the first thing I did was order 2 more pair. Please make some in more dress-up style so I can wear them to the office. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned (and I own a lot of shoes)

I've had my Kurus for 32 hours. They are true to size and felt comfy right away. The sole is quite rigid and you can really feel the structure of the shoe supporting your entire foot. I had to adjust the laces several times to make the fit perfect. The shoes appear well-made. I was put off by the 4 Kuru logos on each shoe. I feel like a walking billboard. I love the deep coral color.I've walked a total of 7 miles so far. I immediately felt the difference in the sole support and heel cradle from average sneakers. I have moderate to severe plantar fasciitis, and the shoes have already made a difference in my at-rest pain. I have found that the there's some rubbing at the front ankle opening. Several people commented on the color and the unusual lacing configuration when I was out walking--I consider this a plus.
