  • What does 1/2 size small or large mean?

    We offer fit notes on certain styles based on customer feedback to help you find the right size. We use these notes beyond our standard sizing information to help guide your choice:

    • 1/2 Size Small: This means the shoe runs small. For example, if your regular size is 8 then you’ll want an 8.5 for shoes that run 1/2 size small.
    • 1/2 Size Large: This means the shoe runs large. For example, if your regular size is 8 then you’ll want a 7.5 for shoes that run 1/2 size large.
    • Fits True to Size: This means the shoe runs true to size. If your regular size is 8 then you'll want an 8 in shoes that run true to size.

  • How do I determine my shoe size?

    Unfortunately, shoes are not measured by inches/centimeters/etc. There are too many variables that go into account for footwear other than absolute length. The size of shoes is really determined by a combination of length, volumes, instep height, toe shape, and other variables. With that being said we try to make our shoes fit as True to Size as possible.

    We would recommend buying based on your most common shoe size. Another option would be to buy a couple of sizes to try on and keep the one that fits the best. Measuring your foot on the Brannock device at a local shoe store is another touch point to getting an accurate fit. We would recommend ordering the size that you typically wear in a similar style of shoe. For example: If you are looking at one of our sneakers, we would recommend buying the size that you typically buy in a fitness shoe.

    KURU cannot provide an accurate size recommendation based on inches, centimeters, or a foot drawing. We do offer Free Returns/Exchanges in the domestic US, and shipping on all of our footwear to ensure you can try them on first to make sure you are soulmates.

  • Do you make waterproof shoes?

    Yes—with more on the horizon! KURU currently offers our CURRENT sandal for men and women, which features waterproof leather, non-wicking microfiber, and trail-ready rubber.

  • Are KURU shoes anti-slip or slip resistant?

    KURU offers an anti-slip shoe in our lineup—the KINETIC! Tested to meet ASTM F2913-11 anti-slip standards, KINETIC features high-grade, slip-resistant rubber outsoles for safe, sure-footed movement.

  • Are KURU shoes non-mark or non-skid?

    All KURU shoes feature a non-marking rubber outsole, and several of our sneakers include this outsole on the entire length of the shoe.

  • Are KURU shoes offered in wide or narrow widths?

    KURU shoes come in standard and wide widths to fit a variety of foot shapes. Shop by width to see which styles come in wide!

  • Which KURUs are best if you need a large toe box?

  • Which KURUs are best if you need arch support?

  • Which KURUs are best if you pronate or supinate?

    Overpronation refers to your ankle rolling too far inward, while supinating refers to your ankle rolling too far outward. Both conditions can be alleviated in part by supportive footwear with adequate arch support, cushion, and stability.

    Although all KURU styles are designed to help relieve foot pain, the QUANTUM and CHICANE offer an extra dose of lateral stability to help reduce pain from pronation or supination and encourage a more natural alignment.

  • How can I know which KURU shoe is best for a specific foot condition?

    (e.g. Plantar Fasciitis, Morton’s Neuroma etc.)

  • Why are my shoes squeaking?

    The most common cause of squeaking is moisture build-up. Our insoles are designed with moisture-wicking technology for maximum comfort, but sometimes excess moisture can accumulate. These tips can reduce squeaking:

    1. Dry Your Insoles Between Wears: Remove your insoles from your shoes and air dry them between uses. You can also apply a light layer of talcum powder to the bottom of your shoes to help absorb moisture.
    2. Re-Align the Insole: Sometimes the insole may slip up and to one side of the footbed. Realign the insole, making sure it is centered over the top of the midsole footbed.
    3. Replace Insoles As Needed: We're also happy to send you a free pair of fresh ULTIMATE INSOLES! In most cases, a new pair of insoles will make the squeaking go away.

    If the squeaking persists, your shoes may have a manufacturer's defect. If air drying or replacement insoles don’t solve the problem, we suggest submitting a warranty request or reaching out to our KURU Gurus for help.

  • Why are my shoes showing wrinkles?

    One of the main benefits of our KURUSOLE technology is how it dynamically flexes within our KURUCLOUD foam. Though we do our best to prevent wrinkles, some are inevitable and may result during manufacturing. Don't worry—any wrinkles you may see are not due to failure or break-down of the foam. It's simply the result of the KURUSOLE technology moving and cupping your heels to give you maximum comfort.

    For additional context, for our higher performance styles, we designed our technology to be closer to the edge of the foam, which helps enhance its ability to hug your heels during more demanding activities. A by-product, however, is the potential for more wrinkles on the surface of the midsole foam. 

    Though we try our best to reduce any wrinkling in our designs, this is sometimes the nature of foam as it's compressed with every step, and is part of normal wear and tear.

  • Can I use custom orthotics in KURU shoes?

    Due to the anatomical shape of the KURUSOLE, custom orthotics with a rounded heel fit best inside our shoes. If the underside of the custom orthotic (the part that sits on the footbed) is squared off, then it may not fit into our deep heel cup—which is rounded like your foot.

    That said, many of our customers tell us the KURUSOLE technology offers better support and stability than they expected, and that they don't need to wear their custom orthotics with KURU shoes.

  • Do you sell replacement laces?

    At this time, we do not offer replacement laces.

    KURU shoes are designed in the USA and made in our partner factories in Asia.

  • Are KURUs vegan?

    Some KURU shoes are vegan! Our ATOM, QUANTUM, and PIVOT all use vegan materials.

  • Do KURU shoes contain latex or formaldehyde?

    Latex

    It is unlikely that any of our shoes contain latex. However, all of our shoe products use different glues, materials, and construction techniques, which are part of the manufacturing process. According to our manufacturer, none of the shoes contain latex, but unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee that the shoes are latex-free.

    Formaldehyde

    All of our shoes use industry-standard glues. Different products use different construction techniques, which require different glues. At times, formaldehyde is used as part of the process to manufacture our shoes. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee that the shoes are formaldehyde-free.

  • How long should my KURUS last?

    The average KURU customer is able to wear their KURU shoes for 1+ years. Podiatrists recommend replacing any kind of shoe after 350–500 miles worth of wear.

    That said, the lifespan of a shoe has many variables that differ for each person, including how often they are worn, mileage, what kind of terrain you wear them on, how much your feet sweat, and your personal walking gait.

    We stand by the quality of our product, and offer a 6 month warranty from the date of purchase if you are experiencing issues that involve manufacturer defects (soles peeling off, stitching coming undone, etc.).

  • What is heel-to-toe drop and does it matter?

    Heel-to-toe drop, or simply “heel drop,” is the difference in distance (in millimeters) between the heel height of a shoe and the toe height of a shoe. Heel to toe drop is always measured from heel to toe. For example, an 8mm heel to toe drop means that the heel of the shoe is 8mm higher than the toe.

    Heel drop matters for walkers and runners alike, because of how it affects a person’s gait, biomechanics, and injury risk. There are pros and cons to both options, based on the person and their activities.

    For instance, a lower drop tends to put the foot in a more natural gait, yet it can put more pressure on the lower leg and foot. This can help strengthen your feet over time, but needs to be done slowly to avoid injury. A higher drop can help evenly distribute weight through your body and help absorb heel strike in running, yet may not develop the deeper intrinsic foot muscles quite as much as a lower drop.

  • Can I remove the insole and use my own custom orthotics?

    KURU shoes are specifically designed to have all shoe components work together for the best chance at pain relief. 

    While you can use your own orthotic, we recommend using KURU’s ULTIMATE INSOLE, which comes standard in every shoe. In fact, many of our customers tell us our three-part technology offers better support and stability than they expected, and that they don't need to wear their custom orthotics with KURU shoes.

    If you do choose to wear your own orthotics, keep in mind that due to the anatomical shape of the KURUSOLE, custom orthotics with a rounded heel fit best inside our shoes.   • Sore Feet With New KURUS? Why Is That?

    While it’s not common, some customers experience tenderness when they first start wearing a new pair of KURUs. You’re more likely to experience this initial pain or tenderness if you’ve never worn custom orthotics before.

    Your body may need time to adjust to the new levels of anatomical support you experience with our patented KURUSOLE technology, and we suggest you follow the break-in procedure even if this isn’t your first pair of KURUs.

    Here are a few suggestions that have helped other customers:

    • Let your feet adapt to the support and natural re-alignment

    As with any high-quality orthotic, letting your feet adjust to the support of the KURUSOLE technology is necessary. This may result in soreness or tenderness for the first few weeks of wear.

    KURU is designed to support your feet as the foundation of your body, which includes proper alignment. Sometimes, re-aligning your body by modifying the way you stand and walk can cause discomfort until your body becomes used to the improved position.

    • Break them in slowly

    For the first two weeks, wear the shoes for 2 to 3 hours each day and then switch to another pair of shoes.

    For the next two weeks, wear them for 3 to 5 hours each day, once again switching to another pair of shoes afterward. This will allow your body to make a healthy transition to the new levels of support.

    • The space-age foams take time to mold to you

    Over time, our ULTIMATE INSOLES will soften and mold to your feet. Our insoles use advanced foams that react to your body heat and mold to the unique contours of your feet.

    Your new KURUs may initially feel slightly stiff or awkward. The recommended break-in time above allows the ULTIMATE INSOLES to mold to your needs. This is especially true if you wear the shoes while standing for long hours.

    • KURU activates your muscles

    KURU offers incredible heel support, with a naturally shaped forefoot. This unique design may activate different muscle groups, which can create some soreness. Give your body a little time to adapt to this natural, flexible forefoot design.

    If you aren’t sure which size will fit you best, go ahead and buy the shoe in a few sizes. Feel free to try them on when your order arrives—just don’t wear them outside until you’re sure which pair you want to keep. Then return the pairs that don’t fit for a fast and easy refund!

  • Am I able to buy a different size shoe for each foot?

    We do not offer varied sizes within the same pair. To get two different sizes, you will need to purchase a pair in each of the two sizes you need.

  • Can I cancel or edit my order after it has been placed?

    We cannot change or cancel an order after it has been placed. If you ordered something by accident, you can return your items to KURU for a refund or an exchange.

  • What forms of payment are accepted?

    We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Diners club. We also accept electronic payment methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay.   • What is your shipping policy?

    We keep it simple and fast. All US orders ship FREE via standard ground service. (FedEx/USPS for the lower 48 states, USPS for HI and AK). Most orders arrive within 3–7 business days.

    For even faster 2-day shipping, select “Express” under Shipping Method at checkout for an additional $30 fee.

    We ship internationally, too! International orders are subject to additional fees and typically arrive between 5–10 business days.

    We process orders on most business days except major holidays, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. See our full shipping policy here.

  • How long will it take to get my order?

    On average, US orders will arrive between 3–5 business days. Most international orders arrive between 7–10 days, though international shipping rates will vary. Express 2-day shipping is available in the US for an added $30 fee.

  • Do you offer expedited shipping?

  • Do you ship internationally?

    Yes, we do! KURU shoes can be shipped worldwide. While there are a handful of countries we are currently unable to ship to, if your location appears in the list of countries when entering your shipping address, we can ship to you. 

    On average, it takes 7–10 business days for an international order to arrive. Any additional duties, taxes, fees, or VAT due on international orders are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Following are our Flat-Rate International shipping costs (USD):

  • Can I change my shipping address?

    While we won't be able to modify the shipping address, you can reroute your package to an Access Point or Hold Location near you. Please visit UPS MyChoice or FedEx Delivery Manager.

  • Do you offer shipping protection?

    Yes! We recommend KURUs Premium Shipping Protection so that you can have peace of mind. At checkout, be sure that Premium Shipping Protection is included to cover lost or damaged orders.

  • How do I file a claim for my lost, damaged or stolen package?

    If you have purchased KURU Premium Shipping Protection and your order is lost, damaged, or stolen, contact us at gurus@kurufootwear.com or call (877) 211-5878 to file a claim. All qualified claims placed within 10 business days from when the shipping tracking number is “delivered” will receive a replacement order at no additional cost.

    When you order from KURU, you will receive an email asking for your feedback and review. This is the easiest route to leaving a review! Additionally, you can visit the product page featuring the shoe you would like to review. Scroll until you see the button, “Write a review.” Click that button, fill out your review details, and click “Agree and submit.”

Returns

  • What is your return policy?

    We know that finding the right fit matters. That’s why we offer 45-day returns on all domestic orders in their original condition.

    Our return policy includes a $5 return shipping and restocking fee. Items are required to be in new condition. We do not refund international duties, taxes, or VAT. Please see the below FAQ for our international returns policy.

    Please note our Clearance or Last Chance items are considered Final Sale and are not subject to returns. Please see our full returns policy here.

  • How do I place a return?

    Making a return is easy! Simply enter your tracking number and email address at returns.kurufootwear.com. (You can find your tracking number in your Shipping Confirmation email). Follow the prompts to complete your return or exchange. Once completed, we will email you a prepaid shipping return label that you can print, attach to your return, and mail off at a FedEx location near you.

  • Can I return shoes that have been worn?

    We want you to feel confident in your KURU order! When you receive your shoes, try them on a clean, carpeted surface to confirm the correct size and style and wear them only around the house. Please keep in mind that shoes must be in their original, new condition to be eligible for a refund or exchange. We strongly encourage you to avoid puddles, mud, scuffs, or food to keep your new KURUs in top condition in case you need to return them.

  • I don’t have a printer, how can I print my return shipping label?

    Many FedEx and UPS shipping centers offer printing services. That way you can pick up your return label print job when you go to mail your return. To create a print job for your return shipping label at FedEx or UPS, first download the file to your computer, then create a print request at theUPSstore.com/print or printing services at FedEx.com.

  • Can I schedule my return to be picked up?

    Though we do not offer pickups through KURU, you may be able to schedule a pick up for your return through FedEx. You can call FedEx customer service at 1.800.GoFedEx or 1.800.463.3339. Or consider dropping off your package at a FedEx shipping location.

  • What refund am I eligible for if I return my international order?

  • What is your exchange policy?

    At KURU, we know that finding the right fit is the first step toward healthier feet. That’s why we offer free, 45-day returns and exchanges to all KURU Rewards members in the US on domestic orders in their original condition.

    A $5 shipping and restocking fee on returns & exchanges will be charged for customers not enrolled in our Heel Better™ Rewards Program.

  • How do I place an exchange?

    To place an exchange, visit returns.kurufootwear.com, enter your order number and email address, and follow the prompts to confirm which shoes you wish to return. You will also be able to select the size or style you wish to exchange them for. Once you complete the form, you will receive an email with a paid shipping label to return the shoes you wish to exchange. We ship your exchanged pair within 1–4 days of receiving your returned shoes.

  • Are there any additional costs for an exchange?

    When using our provided shipping label, return shipping for your exchange is FREE on all domestic orders shipped within the U.S. There are also no restocking fees. While there is no additional cost to exchange a shoe for a different size of the same style, there may be additional cost if you choose to exchange your shoes for a different, higher-priced style.

  • How can I track my exchange order?

    Once we ship your new pair of shoes for your exchange order, we will send you a shipping confirmation email with tracking info.

  • How long will my exchange order take?

    We will ship out your exchange order within 1–4 business days of receiving your returned shoes. For additional questions, email us at gurus@kurufootwear.com.

Warranty

  • What is your warranty policy?

    We strive to give you our signature pain relief in the best quality products. Sometimes, a rogue pair slips through our strict quality control standards. Should your shoes fail due to defect of workmanship, you can be confident your purchase is backed by the following warranty policy:

    1. Six-month guarantee: KURU will offer a warranty on your purchase for 6 months from the date of purchase for repair or replacement (as determined by KURU).

    2. Replacement certainty: If we no longer have the same shoe, you can choose a similar, in-stock product for replacement.

    3. Refunds are not available as part of our warranty program.

    4. Normal wear and tear or damage caused by accidents are not covered under the KURU Footwear warranty.

    5. Due to various environmental factors, color fading is not covered under warranty.

    6. Were your shoes shipped international? Don’t worry, your order is still covered under this warranty. International shipping fees still apply for replacement pairs shipped internationally.

  • What is and is not covered under the warranty?

    What is covered under the KURU warranty:

    Manufacturer error, such as midsole, outsole, toe box, upper, bonding, size, label, material, or heel counter defects.

    What isn’t covered under the KURU warranty:

    Color fading, normal wear and tear, damage caused by accidents, or defects noticed after the 6-month warranty expiration.

  • How do I submit a warranty claim?

    To submit a warranty claim, enter your order number and email address at warranty.kurufootwear.com and follow the prompts. You will be asked what defects or damage you are experiencing and to upload photos. Your order number is listed on your Order Confirmation email or under your order history in your KURU account.

  • How do I set up an account?

    Setting up a KURU account is simple! Register for an account by entering your name, email, and a password at kurufootwear.com/account/register.

    You’ll then receive an email asking you to “activate” your new account. Simply click the “Activate Your Account” button within that email, and you’re all set! You’ll receive a final confirmation email as well.

  • How can I update my preferences and account details?

    Once you’ve set up an account (see above), login into your account at kurufootwear.com/account/login to update your preferences and account details.


    At the top of the screen, you’ll see six options (see below). Click “Settings.” Then, on the left, you’ll be able to edit “Account Details” such as name, address, etc., and preferences, including shoe type, size, width, and foot pain conditions.

  • How do I update my default shipping and billing address?

    You may add or edit addresses under your account at Settings > Saved Addresses. You may update your “default” delivery address anytime by clicking “Edit” on a saved address and checking the “set as default delivery address” box below.

  • How can I update my payment information?

    When you go to checkout, you may update your payment information under “payment method” in Shop Pay or under “Payment” if you check out as a guest.

  • How do I reset my password?

    To reset your password, go to login to your account, but click “Forgot Password?” underneath the form. This will prompt Shop Pay to text you a verification code. Then, a pop-up window will appear on your screen, asking you to enter that code. It will then take you through a series of prompts to reset your password.

  • How can I update my subscription or unsubscribe?

    To unsubscribe from texts (SMS), reply “STOP” to any KURU text.


    To unsubscribe from emails or update your email subscription preferences, first click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any KURU email. This will take you to a screen where you can choose to either completely unsubscribe (large blue button) or click the smaller “update my preferences” to update which emails you receive. (see below images).

  • What notifications are available for me to opt into?

    You may opt in and out of email and text (SMS) notifications anytime by logging into your KURU account at kurufootwear.com/account. Go to Settings > Notifications. To turn on notifications, toggle the button until it turns green. To turn off, toggle the button until it turns gray.

  • How can I get back in stock notifications?

    You may sign up for back-in-stock notifications on the specific page for the shoe style you would like to buy. First, click the size that’s out of stock, then click “Get Notified.” A pop-up will appear, asking you to input your email address. We will email you when that size and style are back in stock.

  • What does the name KURU mean?

    The name KURU was inspired in part by a small southwestern city in Finland. Even the K symbol on our shoes was designed in part to resemble the Finnish flag in honor of our namesake land. When our founder, Bret Rasmussen, visited Kuru, Finland, he was inspired by the people and culture of this city and found he shared their values for hard work, resilience, and commitment to community.
