How do I know which shoe to buy? Which is best for me?

Many customers wonder which shoe will work best for them. Here are some specific questions and answers that will help you better decide which shoe will work best for your needs:

Why a lace-up shoe vs. a slip-on shoe?

Every one of our shoes provides the same revolutionary support underneath the foot with our anatomically shaped and patented KURUSOLE™ with HEELHUGR™ technology. Going with a lace-up also provides added support around the ankle and heel. If your lifestyle includes being active, doing a lot of walking, spending a lot of time on your feet or outdoors, then a style with shoe laces would be best.

On the other hand, if you want a shoe that offers easy-on, easy-off, but still provides great support underneath your foot, then one of our slip-on shoes will certainly do the trick. It's important to know that a slip-on style is not going to perform as well in higher performance applications.

Mesh vs. leather? Help me choose.

Mesh is a commonly used material in shoes, and allows your foot to “breathe” a little more. A lot of the spacer meshes we use on our shoes are the same as meshes used on lightweight, performance running and walking shoes. This means the shoes will be more breathable and will help keep your foot a little cooler when compared to leather. However, mesh does not keep water out, so if it is important that you keep your foot dry, then mesh would not be the best material. However, when wet, mesh will dry out much more quickly than leather.

On the other hand, leather is a great material that has been used in shoes for centuries. The benefits of leather includes better long-term wear, it resists abrasion and does a better job of keeping water out. However, once wet, leather can get heavy and can take up to a few days to completely dry out. Since we use top grade leathers in our shoes, it's important to properly maintain the leathers to preserve the rich, supple finish and performance.
