We named the Chicane for its asymmetrical lacing shape. Just like an S-curve on a winding mountain road, the Chicane's lacing follows the topline of your foot, allowing for more adjustability for a greater variation of foot shapes. This asymmetrical lacing provides a better, more secure fitting shoe. GearDiary.com says it's "one of the only pairs of shoes I look forward to putting on in the morning and almost don’t want to take off at night". Designed as a light duty hiking or walking shoe with a full-wrapping BombrSpec™ leather rand for support and premium, water-resistant nubuck uppers. One wear tester who extensively hiked in these said they "exceeded my expectations...I wouldn't hesitate to use these on a weeklong backpack trip as my only shoes". Why? Because the world's MOST ANATOMICAL midsole for active footwear is found in the Chicane.
Reasons you will Love the Chicane:
FIT NOTES: True to size.

They fit my feet like a glove out of the box, and they didn’t require a break in period to feel good. As far as looks are concerned, they are styled like a ultra modern hiker. They almost appear like a sneaker, but thanks to the dark color of the uppers they could be at home in the office with a pair of dockers. One of the only pairs of shoes I look forward to putting on in the morning and almost don’t want to take off at night.

the shoe felt like one seamless entity on my foot: The insole cups the heel and supports your arch while the lacing system acts like a ribcage over the foot...creating a cocoon of support for the entire foot.

I’ve never had so many people looking at and commenting on my feet. As the shoes wore in, they became one of the most comfortable things I’ve had on my feet in quite a while. I’ve found them to be good in the mud, the snow and jumping puddles around town.

I bought the shoe about six months ago. I wear them regularly and they are still in great condition! I enjoy how well the shoe is made and how light it is as well. I have a hard time finding shoes and they have kept their shape. Being a bigger fella that means a lot! They fit my foot perfectly and stand up to street walking and hiking.

I saw these while on a vacation to Utah, and later bought them. They are super comfortable, and help my back feel better. The shoe style goes well for how I dress as a school teacher and is much easier to stand all day in front with my students. Plus, it will be a great travel shoe to enjoy the local trails.

I experienced what was termed a severe crushing injury to my right ankle. The crushing part came when a draft horse tried to kick the horse on the left side of me and then backed up to kick again and got me, both times. 4 surgeries later, who knows how many therapy trials, I have a spinal implant to moderate the pain and needless to say shoe shopping is very difficult. I've been wearing Earth shoes and some of their styles are good, but it can be hard on the Achilles that wasn't cut on. From the first time I put on a pair of the Kuru Chicanes I was in heaven. I didn't want to take them off! I love them! They are so light and seem to wrap up your foot like nothing I've ever worn before, they are amazing. I figure if they can work for me and my crazy issues, they would be awesome for anyone!!

I used these shoes from everything for work at the hospital, light hiking, to crack climbing in a pinch. I was a bit skeptical about how the durability of the soft shell uppers would hold up, but they did surprisingly well, even when I stuck my foot in a granite crack. The looks of the shoe also enable them to be appropriate for almost any time or place. They are very lightweight, feeling more like a house slipper than a shoe durable enough to take into the mountains. The support offered by the foot bed really is as good as it is touted to be. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

I'm loving these shoes. I bought my wife a pair right after getting mine. My feet feel great at the end of even my most active days. These Kurus are more comfortable and cost far less than other high-end travel/walking shoes I have purchased. The style is cool and unique but I don't feel like I'm screaming for attention. I'm currently using them on my Swiss adventures and have already set them aside for next week's trip to Australia. Well done Kuru.

I walk 4-5 miles a day at least 5 days a week. However, with all the walking, I have developed Plantar Fasciitis (PF) over the years. I have tried many different brands of shoes... some much more expensive than Kuru's. However, this the first shoe I have tried that provides a level of support that makes a difference with the PF. I can actually feel my heel being cradled and I am not experiencing the pain I was with other footwear. Thanks, Kuru for allowing me to continue my walks without pain!

I really enjoyed/enjoy wearing this shoe. I first got the shoes and said this is ok, nothing specular. After a solid week of wearing the shoe, it became ideal. The fit was perfect, the look dead on, and a versatility far superior. An awesome cross over shoe, where I can go hiking during the day and out dancing at night. There is only one down fall, the rubber is really hard. Yes, this makes for awesome durability for the lifetime of the shoe (the soles always wear out before the canvas), but it leads to some loss of traction when there is water on the ground. Taking turns in the rain on asphalt is really dangerous, I fell once trying to make the train.

Ok I am back, I forgot to talk about a couple of things with this shoe. I wore it around the US for approx 3 months but to be exact 100 days. I wore this shoe everywhere. It kicked butt and I would definitely look into another pair for any travel adventure I might have. It is great in all of the seasons, but watch out for water on the ground (see previous comment). I am heading to Europe this summer and I would be caught with my pants down, if I did not have a pair of KURUs on

I am a diabetic looking for a shoe to help me get through the 12 hour shift that I work without so much foot pain. I watch you video and talk to one of your rep and thought I'd give them a try. Well I might as well flush a "c" note down the toliet. After a couple of time working in this shoe, it took 2 days before I could walk without pain again. My heel would ride up out of the back of the shoe and after about 8 hours of this, I just wanted to take them of and throw them. Wishing I could send them back.
